Healing Techniques for Women
There are many healing techniques today out there for women to choose from. This Women’s Center is concerned with the holistic techniques that I use when working on my female clients and myself. Throughout the years, I have had my fair amount of stress and so my body reacted to this stress, and I have always found the holistic method to be complimentary to me. I do believe that you should use traditional methods also and above all you and you alone are the best judge as to what is right for you.
Educate yourself as to opportunities that are out there in the healing realm and them try them. And, it is always wise to have a wellness program in place so that you stay healthy.
Wellness Plans can come from a variety of sources. Talk to your doctor, your dentist, the yoga teacher and health club personnel and your massage therapist or Reiki Master, all the professionals that you have in your life and compile a Plan that is suitable for your needs. Holistic Medicine can play a very important role as part of this plan. In this site, you will se many products, articles, techniques and opportunities for healing. I am adding all the time so please enjoy and let me know how you are doing in your Plan for wellness and if I can assist you in any way.
I believe that you heal your self, the body, the mind and the spirit with the tools that are presented and given to you no matter what they are.
These listed below have worked for others and me so I share them with you.
The Benefits of Massage
What exactly are the benefits of receiving massage or bodywork treatments? Useful for all of the conditions listed below and more, massage can:
- Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
- Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
- Ease medication dependence.
Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.
- Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
- Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
- Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin.
- Increase joint flexibility.
- Lessen depression and anxiety.
- Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
- Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
- Reduce post surgery adhesions and swelling.
- Reduce spasms and cramping.
- Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
- Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.
- Relieve migraine pain.
A Powerful Ally
There is no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen.
Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. While eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether in this fast-paced world may be idealistic, massage can, without a doubt, help manage stress. This translates into:
- Decreased anxiety.
- Enhanced sleep quality.
- Greater energy.
- Improved concentration.
- Increased circulation.
- Reduced fatigue.
Furthermore, clients often report a sense of perspective and clarity after receiving a massage. The emotional balance bodywork provides can often be just as vital and valuable as the more tangible physical benefits.
Profound Effects
In response to massage, specific physiological and chemical changes cascade throughout the body, with profound effects. Research shows that with massage:
- Arthritis sufferers note fewer aches and less stiffness and pain.
- Asthmatic children show better pulmonary function and increased peak airflow.
- Burn injury patients report reduced pain, itching, and anxiety.
- High blood pressure patients demonstrate lower diastolic blood pressure, anxiety, and stress hormones.
- Premenstrual syndrome sufferers have decreased water retention and cramping.
- Preterm infants have improved weight gain.
Research continues to show the enormous benefits of touch—, which range from treating chronic diseases, neurological disorders, and injuries, to alleviating the tensions of modern lifestyles. Consequently, the medical community is actively embracing bodywork, and massage is becoming an integral part of hospice care and neonatal intensive care units. Many hospitals are also incorporating on-site massage practitioners and even spas to treat post surgery or pain patients as part of the recovery process.
Increase the Benefits with Frequent Visits
Getting a massage can do you a world of good. And getting massage frequently can do even more. This is the beauty of bodywork. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you will be and how youthful you will remain with each passing year. Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat does not mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and work with your practitioner to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
Acupressure
Acupressure is a light pressure applied to a system of points located on the body. These points are the same as acupuncture points and are on the meridian lines that go through the body in a particular path and effect organs in the body.
It has many benefits and some are that it
Releases endorphins to reduce pain.
Relieves spasms, removes toxins, increases blood supply, releases natural cortisone to reduce swelling.
Enhances mental clarity.
Can be used during labor to assist in contractions
Pain management
Tones organs and assists the immune system in healing.
There is also a healing that takes place here on many levels due to the body, mind, spirit connection. So you are affected physically, mentally and spiritually. If true healing is to take place you need to have a change on all levels.
People and animals respond incredibly well to this method of healing and you can learn to do this for yourself.
Virtually all ailments can benefit from acupressure and it is gently and yet powerful!

- Reiki Balances out the electromagnetic field, opens channels to the central nervous system, relieves swelling and scar tissue and aids the body in healing. It is a Japanese technique that has been handed down for centuries where the Reiki Master works with the electromagnetic energy around and in you. Since your central nervous system works on electromagnetic chemical charges then this modality simply gives you more “juice” to function and heal. It can be done in person or a Reiki Master can send you the energy where ever you are. You do not have to be there physically with them.

Myo-fascial Release Therapy
I use this therapy on animals and humans and it is an incredible powerful system that I have seem and experienced personally.
I have see it reduce pain especially for clients who do repetitive motion at work. Also, I have used it on horses who seem to be having alignment problems.
I basically works on all creatures and I believe that this therapy with the others mentioned here will prove to be a must to be healthy and stay well.
Myofascial Release is a very effective hands-on technique that will eliminate pain and restore motion. The theory of Myofascial Release requires an understanding of the fascial system (or connective tissue). The fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider's web.
Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. The most interesting aspect of the fascial system is that it is not just a system of separate coverings. It is actually one structure that exists from head to foot without interruption. In this way you can begin to see that each part of the entire body is connected to every other part by the fascia, like a web.
Fascia also plays an important role in the support of our bodies, since it surrounds and attaches to all structures. These structures would not be able to provide the stability without the constant pull of the fascial system.
In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration. It has the ability to stretch and move without restriction. When we experience physical trauma, scarring, or inflammation, however, the fascia loses its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Trauma, such as a fall, whiplash, surgery or just habitual poor posture over time and repetitive stress injuries has a cumulative effects. The changes they cause in the fascial system influence comfort and the functioning of our body. The fascia can exert excessive pressure producing pain or restriction of motion. They affect our flexibility and stability, and are a determining factor in our ability to withstand stress and strain.
Cranio-sacral Therapy
CST was pioneered and developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
- Migraine Headaches
- Chronic Neck and Back Pain
- Motor-Coordination Impairments
- Colic
- Autism
- Central Nervous System Disorders
- Orthopedic Problems
- Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
- Scoliosis
- Infantile Disorders
- Learning Disabilities
- Chronic Fatigue
- Emotional Difficulties
- Stress and Tension-Related Problems
- Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
- Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
- Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Post-Surgical Dysfunction

Stress and Meditation
We all have stress in our lives. In fact just driving to work is stressful as well as our jobs and our interaction with our environment in general. Stress does affect us physically, mentally and yes even spiritually.
During stress, the heart beats faster and blood pressure rises. The blood flow is diverted from the internal organs to the muscles as well as the areas of the brain that control muscle coordination. As a result, the brain releases chemicals that help the body cope better with injuries, including those that block pain and help the blood clot faster. All these symptoms lead to the feeling of being run down, tired and basically stressed.
Meditation comes to the rescue in such a situation and induces 'RELAXATION RESPONSE' . Dr Benson (used to work at Harvard Medical School, did a research of physiological effects of meditation) found that there was a counter-balancing mechanism to the fight-or-flight response in most stress-inducing situations. As stress is induced by stimulation of the- hypothalamus of the brain Relaxation can achieve by countering this stimulation - by stimulating other areas of the brain. This is achieved by doing meditation, which leads to state of deep rest.
So decide today to begin some form of Meditation as part of your wellness plan.
How To Do A Breast Exam
Breast exam for women
(HealthDay News) -- Women should examine their breasts regularly to detect lumps or abnormalities that could signal breast cancer. An exam should be done once a month, several days after the last day of a woman's period.
Here are the five basic steps to a breast self-exam, courtesy of Breastcancer.org:
Standing with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips, face a mirror. Look for any differences in size, shape, color, swelling or bulging of the skin, changes in the nipple, or any signs of redness or rash.
Raise your arms, and examine your breasts for any of those differences.
Gently squeeze each nipple to check for any discharge.
Lie down, and feel each breast with the hand of the opposite arm. Feel all the tissue, applying pressure to check deep tissue for any lumps or abnormalities.
Examine the breasts while you are standing or sitting, gently examining the entire breast. You may want to try this method in the shower, while the skin is slippery.
